Woman killed as lorry crashes into house ‘during police chase’ near Barnsley

One woman was killed after a lorry crashed into the side of house ‘during a police chase’ near Barnsley today.

Footage from the scene in Brierley shows two men getting out of the lorry before running away.

Three people were taken to hospital after police and paramedics were called to Park View, in South Yorkshire, around 1.40pm following reports of an incident involving an HGV.

South Yorkshire Police has since confirmed that one female pedestrian died in the incident.

Officers said four men had been arrested and confirmed that the white tractor unit had been ‘involved in crime’ before the crash.

They would not confirm reports from people in the village that the truck was being followed by police shortly before the collision.

A large area remained cordoned off around the newly built house, which has suffered severe damage at the back, with beds and other household items hanging precariously from the wrecked gable end.
