With less than a week to go, new details have emerged about Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank .
It has been announced that Italian singer, Andrea Bocelli will perform two songs during the service, which will air on ITV at 11am this Friday October 12. The designer and flavour of their wedding cake has also been announced.
A statement from the Palace read: “Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Brooksbank have asked London based cake designer Sophie Cabot to make their wedding cake.
“The red velvet and chocolate cake will be a traditional cake, with a modern feel. It will incorporate the rich colours of autumn in its design and will be covered with detailed sugar work including ivy.
“Sophie Cabot started her bespoke cake design business in 2014 having grown up with a love of baking and learning her skills from her grandmother and mother.”
The statement also revealed that Cabot came to the young royal’s attention through her involvement with the Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace program – a platform designed to ‘amplify and accelerate the work of entrepreneurs’ – after she supplied bespoke biscuits.
Cabot said in a statement: “I am incredibly excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to create such a special and unique cake. It has been lovely working with Princess Eugenie and Jack and I really hope they enjoy the cake on the day.”
This cake is vastly different from the Amalfi lemon curd and elderflower buttercream cake made by Claire Ptak for the nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just months ago. This cake was decorated with light icing and flowers, whereas it sounds like Eugenie’s cake will be more decadent with the red velvet and chocolate flavours and the look suited to autumn. Both cakes are modern and a stray from the traditional fruitcake often favoured for royal weddings.
As well as the cake, the Royal Family also released details on the service, stating: “The Dean of Windsor, The Rt. Revd. David Conner will give the Address at their Wedding. The Dean will also officiate as the couple make their marriage vows.”
