If you think you’re an unlucky person, ask yourself this: have you ever crossed the path of a cannon at the exact moment it’s fired?
Lady Luck certainly wasn’t smiling down on this pigeon when it did exactly that in Malta.
Incredible footage showed the exact moment the weapon was fired as part of a ceremonial salute – and the bird is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Since the 19th century, Malta has used blank rounds rather than live ammunition for its salute, which marks midday.
But despite that, the pigeon didn’t appear to fend well as it flew past at the moment of the blast.
Little girl who became face of Yemen hunger crisis has diedIt’s unclear if the bird survived – but according to Karl Oliver, a honeymooner who filmed the video, there wasn’t a happy ending.
He said: ‘We went to the saluting battery for the second time as it was raining the first, front row tickets.
‘Then when we were looking through the footage frame by frame, we noticed the pigeon ceased to exist after the firing.’
